I initially pitched the article below to a well-known health & wellness platform in order to get the word out to as many people as possible. Since I haven’t heard back from them for several weeks, I’m publishing the post myself. Frankly, I’m grateful for their silence because it propelled me to launch the Dispatch Series.

Eating the Food Babe Way

Vani Hari, the renegade food activist better known as the Food Babe, recently drew a passionate crowd of health enthusiasts and engaged citizens at ABC Home to celebrate the launch of her first book, The Food Babe Way.

Hari’s made it her mission to free food from the toxins that can be found in most processed items these days (think chemicals, GMOs, additives etc that not only make you unhealthy but also fat and irritable). The power of her voice, into which her first name translates in Hindi, has food giants like Kellog’s and General Mills revisit the use of BHT (a questionable preservative) in their cereals, for instance.

Interviewed by Michele Promaulayko, editor-in-chief of Yahoo Health, Hari, glowing in a chartreuse-colored mini dress, underlined the connection between food and emotions. “What you eat is how you feel,” she states, sharing her motivation to work as a culinary Sherlock Holmes. “Every time you eat out you’re almost guaranteed to eat GMOs.” Naturally, the first line of defense is to prepare your own food. “Taking back control of your food,” Hari emphasizes, “starts in the kitchen.” Moreover, you don’t need a nutrition degree to know how to eat. Use common sense; if it doesn’t go bad, it is bad.

So get cooking, read ingredient labels, and cherish your clean food. You’re likely to learn a lot more about the Food Babe way of living on the big screen soon as an invitation to appear in the sequel to Forks Over Knives was extended by a team member in the audience.
